DIACONATE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES FOR APRIL 7, 2010

PRESENT:  Syd Bare, Sara Baker, Cindy Nickerson, Joan Augustino, Dave Ehart, Kathy Sullivan, Rev Terry

Rev Terry opened meeting with a prayer.

 MINISTER’S REPORT: Rev  Terry asked for comments regarding Easter Services. Services described as beautiful, wonderful, great sermon and over 200 people at Easter Sunday Service. Suggested that we don’t need as many little cups of water on the communion tray. Need only about six.

No liaison present today.

MINUTES: February minutes accepted as presented.

OLD BUSINESS:  Cori Checks: Reminder that any person involved with the children needs to be cori checked.  Regarding By-laws:  We will have this discussion when chairman Bob Macallister is back. Some changes may be made to the by-laws concerning Diaconate Committee. Goals of committee for the year will also be discussed when Bob is back. Would like to find out if Mary Jane Garneau is available every Sunday for the kids. Kathy will ask Rev Terry. Where is the “emergency names list”?-(persons who may help out if there is a situation in church on Sunday- example: somebody ill.) Kathy S. will put “reminder” in newsletter about sign-up sheet for people willing to do ushering and greeting. 

NEW BUSINESS:  Diaconate Committee is responsible for refreshments for All-Committee night on May 5^th and all Sundays in May. On May 23^rd (Pentecost) we may just need to make coffee as it is a special time with people bringing in international foods after service. May need to help with clean-up also.

May 16- Cindy N. , Joan A.

May 23- Question of coffee needed only as it is Pentecost Service with special foods being brought in. Kathy will talk to Rev Terry about this.

May 30-Kathy S. and Syd B.

Kathy S. will bring in ice cream, toppings and whipped cream for all-committee night as well as decorations. Cindy N. and Joan A. will assist that night for set-up. Our committee will stay afterwards for clean-up.
