Minutes:
motion by Bob to accept, 2ndd and approved unanimously as presented.
Treasurer Report: Carl stated no expenses for the the past month, cash balance is same,
$46.63. Motion to accept report 2ndd and approved.
Bob explained that our budget for 2009 is $700, but
not itemized. We have spent $223.83 so far, so a little less than $500 remains
for 2009, we still need to purchase Friendship pad covers for the pews. Motion
to buy covers 2ndd and approved.
Old Business: Jan talked about the Emergency Medical Response kit
in progress.
She would like to purchase large duffle
bag and supplies requested by the EMR team volunteers with experience. The
request for closet space for defibrillator, duffle bag, and janitorial supplies
has not been approved yet.
Bob moved to purchase the duffle bag and
supplies, 2ndd and approved. Location to store it for easy access can be
determined at a later time.
Jan reviewed progress on the Shoebox for
Troops mission. Boxes and suggested list will be available next Sunday. She
asked for 2 people from Diaconate to work with Mission Committee to work on the
project, Sara and Barbara volunteered.
A list of past deacons has been
requested for committee to draw on when calling for ushers and greeters, Dave
will put together list of names and phone#s.
New Business: Discussion about choir walking in at beginning of
service without singing, “we really miss their singing” is what we hear from
the congregation. Was explained to us that is difficult for some in choir to
walk ahead and read from hymnal. We would like the music committee to open discussion
on this. Suggestion made to ask choir to be seated prior to service. Committee
agreed to bring this matter up with Bruce as our liaison to Church Committee
and the choir.
Summer Schedule: committee worked on
Deacon of Day scheduled, which was difficult with low turn out at tonight’s
meeting. In September we can review scheduling by the month instead weekly as
we do now.
Deacon of the Day schedule for next 13 weeks:
Dave: Jun 14
Cindy: 6/21, 8/9.
Linda: 6/28, 7/12, 8/23.
Jan: Jul 19
Carl: July 26
Bob: Aug 16
Sara: Aug 30
Bob will take Communion Sunday 8/2, but 7/5 and 9/6
are still open.
Diaconate dress code for men on
diaconate, greeting, or ushering during the summer months will be dress shirt, but
no tie or blazer necessary.
Tiny Tots attendance count will be added
to the new attendance count sheets. Remember to enter on attendance sheets each
Sunday so we can have actual counts instead of guesstimates.
We discussed “STUFF” in the sacristy
again. This should be only temporary, cleaned up soon as the renovation to
chancel is complete and stuff should be put away soon. Attendance was low May
31, weather was poor, but attendance was 146 on June 3. We talked about the excellent
service & music at the last service.
Jan recalled we haven’t submitted 2009
goals for our committee yet, we still need to submit something. Larry has been
providing excellent help each Sunday. Barbara closed the meeting with prayer.
Our next meeting will be Wed September
9, Sara will close that meeting.
Meeting adjourned shortly after 8pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Dave Wilbur
